What I've learned...

Get out of your comfort zone. #inspiration #quote Photograph by bubblerock. Designed by Steph Kunau.

we have to be willing to live among them

Day 3

August 26
It was a hot and humid morning that day and full of unexpected surprises.
I walked a short distance on the way to school without having any idea
how many kids would actually show up that day.

When I made my way in...

With their dark, sparkling eyes, 50 kids was looking at me, and finally they all wanted to hold my hand. I could not stop but smile:-)

You can just imagine it...
children from all different backgrounds, from three years old to seventeen,
that never saw cameras and any puzzles or a jumping rope before.
Everything was new and a big surprise to them.

Yes, my day was busy and filled with activities,
but there was always something to smile at; whether it was those cute little drawings I received one after another or hearing them laugh with full joy.

Some children never sat in a classroom before or experienced to be a student so
at some times it was difficult to explain them rules for games and activities,
because in their perspective-Who cares for games rules, we just want to play!

At the end of that morning with the children, my mom and I we walked in the village,
carried conversations with the people around and visited our friends' families. Many kids would follow us wherever we would go. It was so sweet to see them, and to be able to hold their little hand. I did not care at that moment how dirty their hands were...
''I simply wanted all of them to feel loved and appreciated. ''

What a difference would it be...

LifeSong for Orphans is one of my faves! What some Americans need to learn! Themselves!!!
Build your self-esteem one small step at a time. "10 Ways to Feel Positive and Confident" by Emily Roberts MA, LPC - "...8) Practice good posture 9) Give yourself credit for small, daily accomplishments 10) Get grateful"
God does not expect us to be perfect and doesn't want us to do everything... but He simply wants our heart.

''I'm only one, but still I am one.
I cannot do everything, but still I can do something.''

Sometimes I wonder...
''why do I still need to be in this place called Canada with all the wonderful things we can possibly have when I could be elsewhere helping someone out of poverty or in an orphanage that just NEED someone to help them out. ''

Why does it need to be the same routine everyday;
waking up, eating, and then bedtime.

God is only testing my patience.

Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. James 1:3

What a difference would it be,
if we could add in kindness and love to our everyday life...
  • waking up with a smile :-)
  • praying God to guide us in the day
  •  helping out this elderly lady at the market
  • sharing treats with friends at school
  •  sending a letter
  • thanking God for the day

Can you imagine how satisfying it would be
and how the world would be a better place?
Everyday we have the choose to do it, unfortunately we often miss the target.

Oceans

"Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)"
You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand

And I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Your grace abounds in deepest waters
Your sovereign hand
Will be my guide
Where feet may fail and fear surrounds me
You've never failed and You won't start now

So I will call upon Your name
And keep my eyes above the waves
When oceans rise
My soul will rest in Your embrace
For I am Yours and You are mine

Day 2

August 25

''I'm writting these words down in my journal
after an awesome day spended with friends.''

Marvelous day! I simply loved it<3
It's not quite what I was expecting...
Far more wonderful than I ever would have imagined.
Today we spent the day with the kids in the village.
Dozen and dozen of them.
We played soccer and a bit of jumping rope.

While my stay there, the view around me was just stunning.
The mountains and valleys all around, trails full of childrens running barefoot.
They all wanted to follow us everywhere we went.
I would give to them some little smilee stickers and they would just make this big smile and look at me with those precious sparkling eyes
One thing I loved was that they never saw any camera before.
They were just amazed by it!

Tomorrow (August 26) will be a big day.
We will do some activities with the kids around the village.
We have no idea how many will actually come.
I prepared a bit of stuffs already.
I met this precious ten years old girl today. She is called Lucienta.
She does not have a mommy and a daddy. She's an orphan.
We are staying at the same place with her this week.
I pray that we will be a blessing to her.
She's really sweet<3
Blessings,
Keila

Day 1

August 24
''I now see the real thing.
I now see the true poverty.
I now experience the real heat of Haiti.''

''They still have smiles.
They still have a hope;
We can tell them about the good news''

We left this morning at 6:30am from Home.
In Montréal we waited for a couple of hours.
During the flight I had this terrible ear pain!
It eventually got better...
after like a couple of days(-:

When we arrived at the airport in Port-au-Prince, Haiti
and I took my first step out if the plane...
oh! It was like stepping in an oven!

The heat was just so intense.
I could not think living in this extreme heat, even for this short amount of time.
  (I don't regret it a bit now!)

In the airport they all wanted to carry and help us with our luggages.
We needed to refuse, just for the sake of security.

The drive was fabulous and so diferent from my hometown!
Streets were just filled with people, and childrens playing everywhere.
''Tap-tap'' (bus taxi) full of passengers. Donkeys trying to make their way across.
So this was my first day right in the middle of Port-au-Prince:-)

Cheers!
